Deborah brings extensive experience in not-for-profit administration and health care. Her health care background has included working as a regulated health professional in Nova Scotia as an optician. Closer to home, she worked as the executive assistant to three successive CEOs at the Pembroke Regional Hospital. She came into that position following the merger of the two community hospitals under the Province’s Health Services Restructuring Committee and experienced the changes that the community and hospital went through. She knew further health care changes during a major capital expansion project at the hospital during which the SARS pandemic impacted global health care.
Management and governance experience comes from a variety of positions with both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. Most recently Deborah provided governance consulting for the Simon Fraser University Student Society for a by-law review. Prior to that, she worked ten years for a 175,000 member national association that served retirees.
Deborah has an executive MBA from Queens University, which she earned in 2017.
On a personal note, she enjoys gardening, travel, and spending time at the lake with her husband James and two cats in a vintage Airstream trailer that she and James restored.
