COMPLICATIONS

It is important to have regular check-ups with your physician and diabetes education team. If diabetes is left untreated or poorly managed, it can lead to serious complications such as: heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, blindness, impotence and amputation.

Every year, you should see your eye doctor who will perform a retinal screening to assess the health of your eyes.

Regular foot care is also very important. If you are unable to take care of your feet, please book an appointment with our foot care nurse today.

Please refer to the following resources from Diabetes Canada for more detailed information on the potential complications of diabetes.
